Bespoke Portrait, Landscape & Location-Based Paintings in Dublin

Commissioning an oil painting is a wonderful way to create something personal and meaningful, whether it’s a landscape, a seascape, a house, a still life with personal significance, or a special place you’d like captured. Based in Dublin and working with clients throughout Ireland, I take on occasional painting commissions each year — landscapes, seascapes, and location-based pieces — creating custom oil paintings with a timeless, atmospheric feel. If you’re interested in commissioning an oil painting, here’s how the process works.
How much does a commissioned painting cost?
Commissioned paintings start at €650.
As an example, a 12×16 inch landscape, seascape, or location-based painting is typically €750–€900, depending on the level of detail or the figures involved. Small figures to suggest scale or atmosphere are included in painting commissions, while detailed, recognisable likenesses fall under portrait pricing.

How It Works
1. Get in Touch
If you have an idea for a painting, just send me an email with as much information as possible to get started. Feel free to include as many suitable reference photos as you have, the size you’re considering, and a note about what you’d like the painting to capture. From there, we can chat through options and see what will work best for your commissioned piece.
2. Choosing a Subject & Size
Whether it’s a landscape, seascape, house, meaningful location or a still life with personal significance , we’ll chat through the subject, composition, and size that best suits your vision. I’ll guide you through options so the final painting feels personal, atmospheric, and true to the sense of place you want to capture.
3. Photo References
Good reference photos are really helpful for landscape and location-based paintings. If you already have images of the place you’d like painted, feel free to send over as many as you like — snapshots from your phone are usually perfect. Photos taken at different times of day are especially useful, as they help us choose the images that best represent the mood and composition for the painting.
Please send photos from your own collection or ones you have permission to use, as I can only work from images that you own the rights to.
4. Deposit & Timeline
A 50% deposit is required to secure your commission. Once received, I’ll begin the painting, keeping you updated throughout the process. Completion time varies depending on size and complexity.
5. Final Review & Delivery
Before the painting is finished, you’ll have the opportunity to review it. Small refinements can be made if needed. Once the final payment is received, your painting will be ready for pickup or delivery.
